Discover Istanbul Province by Province: Pendik

Pendik is one of the two provinces of Istanbul located by the Gulf of İzmit, which is home to many summer resorts and diverse nature as well as a big industrial area. Pendik was a fishing village and the host of many civilizations from the Roman Empire to the Seljukians. Its oldest name was Pantikapeun, which was converted to Pantichion under the Byzantine influence and later to Pendik, after it was taken over by the Ottoman Empire in the 15th century. It used to be a suburban area famous for its coast and fishing culture, until it was transformed into an important urban center, housing production facilities, shopping malls, satellite towns, and an international airport.

It is also the home of the working class, who prefer to buy Istanbul property in the newly constructed satellite towns. The Istanbul apartments for sale in the area are more affordable than the old city districts, therefore many visitors who want to invest in Istanbul, come to the area to see the latest developments. The location of the district makes it more attractive, as there are many ferry boats travelling to Yalova and Bandırma, shortening the trip by running across the Sea of Marmara. It is also next to the D-100 highway, with direct connection to both sides of Istanbul.

There are three universities and a big university hospital in the area, increasing the comfort of the inhabitants, who enjoy spending time around Aydos Hill, the highest green hill of Istanbul or on its lengthy shores with amazing views of the Prince’s Islands. Those who want to shop from the outlets of the famous brands, visit Viaport Outlet Center. There are several shops from children’s clothing to jewelry as well as a cinema inside the mall. Beside buses, the outlet management provides transportation services from Pendik’s satellite town and Kartal.

Kurtköy, where Sabiha Gökçen International Airport is located, is one of the most trending areas on the Anatolian side for contractors, who want to make property investment in Istanbul. Its proximity to the airport and Teknopark, the Silicon Valley of Istanbul, attracts many students, workers as well as foreigners, who are looking for flats for sale in Turkey. The interest towards the area is rising day-by-day, signaling continuous rapid development in the coming days.
